" (Buddhiman Devasai) नाम से कोई विशेष और प्रसिद्ध नैतिक कहानी उपलब्ध नहीं है, लेकिन "
बुद्धिमान व्यवसायी
" (Buddhiman Vyavsayi) या "
व्यापारी के पुत्र की कहानी
" नामक एक लोकप्रिय प्रेरणादायक कहानी है, जिसका नैतिक शिक्षा (moral) बहुत अच्छा है।
यहाँ एक संक्षिप्त हिंदी कहानी दी गई है:
बुद्धिमान व्यवसायी (व्यापारी के पुत्र की कहानी)
एक समय की बात है, किसी नगर में एक धनी व्यापारी रहता था, लेकिन दुर्भाग्यवश उसकी सारी संपत्ति समाप्त हो गई। व्यापार करने के लिए दूसरे देश जाने से पहले, उसके पास अपने पुरखों की एक बहुत कीमती, बीस किलो वजन की लोहे की तराजू (weight scale) बची थी। उसने उस तराजू को नगर के एक सेठ के पास धरोहर के रूप में रख दिया और स्वयं व्यापार के लिए विदेश चला गया।
कई वर्षों के बाद, उसने खूब धन कमाया और अपने घर वापस लौटा। वह सेठ के पास अपनी तराजू वापस लेने गया। जब उसने सेठ से अपनी धरोहर मांगी, तो सेठ की नियत खराब हो गई और वह बेईमानी पर उतर आया। उसने व्यापारी के पुत्र से कहा, "भाई, तुम्हारी उस तराजू को तो चूहे खा गए!"
व्यापारी का पुत्र बहुत बुद्धिमान था। उसने मन ही मन सोचा और शांत रहते हुए कहा, "सेठ जी, अगर चूहे तराजू खा गए, तो आप कर भी क्या सकते हैं! यह तो मेरा दुर्भाग्य था। खैर, मैं नदी में स्नान करने जा रहा हूँ। यदि आप अपने बेटे को मेरे साथ भेज दें, तो वह मेरे कपड़े उठा लाएगा।"
सेठ, जो खुद डरा हुआ था कि कहीं व्यापारी उस पर चोरी का आरोप न लगा दे, इस आसान सी बात के लिए तुरंत मान गया और अपने बेटे को उसके साथ भेज दिया। स्नान के बाद, व्यापारी के पुत्र ने चुपके से सेठ के बेटे को एक गुफा में छिपा दिया और गुफा के द्वार को एक बड़ी चट्टान से बंद कर दिया। फिर वह अकेला ही सेठ के पास लौट आया।
सेठ ने पूछा, "मेरा बेटा कहाँ है?"
व्यापारी के पुत्र ने उत्तर दिया, "सेठ जी, जब हम नदी किनारे बैठे थे, तो एक बड़ा-सा बाज आया और झपट्टा मारकर आपके बेटे को उठाकर ले गया!"
यह सुनकर सेठ बहुत क्रोधित हुआ और चिल्लाने लगा, "तुम झूठे हो! भला कोई बाज इतने बड़े लड़के को कैसे उठाकर ले जा सकता है? यह असंभव है!"
व्यापारी के पुत्र ने शांत रहते हुए कहा, "सेठ जी, यह उतना ही संभव है, जितना कि बीस किलो की लोहे की तराजू को चूहों का खा जाना। जिस देश में चूहे लोहे की तराजू खा सकते हैं, वहाँ बाज इंसान के बच्चे को भी उठा सकता है।"
सेठ अपनी गलती समझ गया। शर्मिंदा होकर उसने व्यापारी के पुत्र को उसकी तराजू वापस कर दी और व्यापारी ने भी सेठ के बेटे को रिहा कर दिया।
नैतिक शिक्षा (Moral of the Story)
बुद्धि और हाजिरजवाबी से किसी भी मुश्किल परिस्थिति का हल निकाला जा सकता है।
लालच का परिणाम हमेशा बुरा होता है।
